Every time you are willing to say ‘Yes’ to everything on your path, you express the hero inside of you
– Joseph Campbell
Well prepared for your journey to Santiago de Compostela.
The Hero’s Path offers coaching programs and Walkabouts walking-retreats on the Camino de Santiago. This pilgrimage and also spiritual journey is an experience. Walking the Camino as your lifepath teaches you to make conscious choices in the here and now and according to your needs. The purpose of this journey is to get back in touch with your own wishes and desires. To feel again what is good for you. A good way to do this is to step out of your comfort zone and surrender to the magic of the Camino. To let go of control and expectations. An important saying among pilgrims is: “The Camino provides”. Opportunities and surprises come your way at the moment you least expect it.
Experience shows that you get more out of your pilgrmage if you don’t organize everything in advance. The adventure begins when you shut your front door behind you, into the unknown.
From this point of view I invite you to compose your own journey. Make your own conscious choices.
You arrange your own transport and make choices about:
What are the daily costs on the Camino?
You can make is as expensive as you want. There are sufficient places to sleep on the route. You can sleep in a pilgrims hostel, a simple hostel or in a hotel. Prices vary from 8€ to around 50€ per night. For lunch, we pass a bar or you have bought something at the local supermarket. Meals are cheap in Spain, count on a average of 20€ per day. If you sleep in a pilgrimshostel and have a pilgrimsmeal, the average cost is between 25€- 30€ per day.
With a pilgrim passport you get a discount on both your accomodations and your meal!
You can pick up this passport at the tourist office at your starting point, costs 2€. You have your daily stamps in this passport. This is proof that you have walked the necesarry 100km to Santiago de Compostela. You will receive your Compostela.
Does this mean that you have to figure everything out by yourself?
The Hero’s Path is available for all your questions. Call me, send a Whatsapp or use the contact form on the Homepage. When you decide to walk along, you will receive an email after your booking with all practical matters for your Camino. Such as stages, info about flights, public transport and accomodation. And tips about what to pack and to prepare yourself physically.
Do you think it is a better idea to have your accomodation arranged in advance?
That is of course also possible! I will reserve a room for you at your desired accomodation.
When is the best period to walk the Camino?
Galicia has a maritime as well as a continental climate. Throughout the year it is very pleasant to stay. Most rains fall from November to March. July and August are the hottest and driest months, but it is also a busier period. The Spaniards are on holiday and therefore also walk (a part of) the Camino. The Camino Frances runs from East to West and is in general dry and warm.
Be sure to check the amazing website of Camino Comfort. These enthusiastic experienced Camino lovers offer all information about gear, the different Caminos and all practical matters you need for your Camino.

Who are you by nature?
By nature a person only starts moving to change things when there is an urgency, a necessity or a deeply rooted desire. Even if you know it’s better to change something in your life something (or someone) is holding us back. “I know what I have right now” is a (safe) frequently heard statement. The result is that you don’t get out of your life what really matters to you. You lead a life that doesn’t really suit you. It usually takes a personal crisis to reflect and get moving.
Do you recognize yourself in any of the statements below?
If you find recognition with 1 or more statements, the effect may be that you often feel tired or, in the contrary, rushed. You ask alot of yourself and sleep badly. You may even feel a bit gloomy and despondent at times.
If you long for an energetic existence and a life that holds promise again, then it is time to get moving and take the first step.
Step out of your daily routines and responsibilities and take a different path. On the Camino you have all the time for yourself, to enjoy and make room for reflection. Just breathe.
With a supportive coach on your side who stimulates you in a appreciative and playful way, you learn to look differently. At yourself and your situation in life. Playful walking assignments and personal professional attention help you on your way. Mindful walking, your senses pleasantly stimulated by being in nature, bring you into the moment. Offering you realistic and achievable perspectives and possibilities for your future.
If you long for a life that flows again and can’t wait to start a new day in the morning…walk the Camino along with us and experience how naturally adventurous your life can be.
What will this journey bring you?
Promising journey huh?
